The Century 1660-1760 was dominated by a series of wars. The series of wars were known as the “Anglo-Dutch Wars”. The Anglo-Dutch Wars were the development of England’s Empire. These wars were trade disputes provoked by the Navigation Acts which England claimed power over the Channel and North Sea. In 1660 after the end of the Puritan rule Charles II was crowned the king of England. This event was known as the Restoration. Charles founded six colonies New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina and South Carolina. These new colonies were populated not only by the English but also by the French, Spanish Dutch, Scottish, Irish, and Germans. The biggest threats to the Native Americans were the French and the Spanish. They wanted to convert the Natives to Catholicism and use them as slave.
